Poetry is one of the oldest art forms. The heart and mind are two equal forces that drive the pen. Words are chosen as carefully as a jeweler selects precious gems. Within a few lines the poet can capture an infinite range of emotions; the impact can be profound. Some poems paint word pictures that transport the reader to a delightful place. Other poems inspire. "Blue Skies above Life's Storms" contains four series of poems:
"Life's Experiences" is the first series. We live in a world filled with challenges. How good it is when we accept responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, words and actions. Our internal dialogue can hold us captive, or it can elevate us to a higher plane. A Bible proverb says, "Have you shown yourself discouraged in the day of distress? Your power will be scanty." Power is the energy that fuels our actions.
Imagination is a gift from our Creator. With the writing of the "Imaginary Journey" series, I hope you will be inspired to view the universe as a gigantic playground that stirs your imagination.
The "Light" series are story poems. As I wrote the stories, I became the campfire in "Campfire Magic," the lamp in "Lamplight," and the lantern in "Lantern Light to Winner's Circle."
The fourth series is titled "Prairie." When I traveled across America's Great Plains, my mind was freed in ways that I'd never thought possible. I could imagine how it looked in years past, when the wildflowers and native grasses stretched endlessly into the distance. I visualized great herds of buffalo roaming free.
